The Aeta community is a beloved group in Subic. They are the native people of Binictican Hills in Subic Bay, Olongapo. Due to their warm and friendly nature, some Aetas guide hikers who want to brave the Pamulaklakin Binictican trail.

The trail itself is a popular destination for Subic-goers who want to deviate from the normal water-based adventures they have been getting. For a little money, you can roam around the Aeta’s ancestral lands while seeing one of the few remaining untouched rainforests in the Philippines. The tour around the trail would also feature an additional lesson on survival tactics in the forest and will educate you on what plants are medicinal and not. There will also be a demonstration on how to steam rice and cook fish inside bamboo and on fire. If you would like to see it, there can be a demonstration of how they normally cook on the bush using banana leaves.

Aside from a refreshing trek around the trail, you can also have lunch beside a free-flowing spring. Once you arrive at the trail, you will be welcomed by dancing Aetas and a stand-up comedy performance by Tatay Kasoy – an elderly member of the Aeta community present.
